First Article Inspector | Ludington, MI

Salary Range: $55,000 - $82,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dimensional inspections of first-off parts against engineering drawings and specifications.
• Utilize precision measuring equipment such as CMMs, calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part conformance.
• Generate and complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), including AS9102 forms, accurately and thoroughly.
• Identify, document, and report non-conformances or deviations from specifications to appropriate personnel.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve inspection discrepancies and improve manufacturing processes.
• Maintain and ensure the proper calibration and functionality of all inspection tools and equipment.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Expertise in operating precision measurement equipment (e.g., CMM, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators).
• Thorough understanding of First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and AS9102 requirements.
• Strong ability to accurately document inspection results, identify non-conformances, and complete FAI reports.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or precision machining.

Bonus Qualifications

• CMM programming experience
• ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT)
• Proficiency with enterprise-level Quality Management System (QMS) software
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
• Advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) interpretation skills
