Are you an experienced broadcast news writer with strong producing skills looking for freelance opportunities? NBC Bay Area (KNTV) is seeking a newsroom-savvy journalist with a passion for breaking news, sharp writing, and a multi-platform mindset. As a freelancer, you’ll partner with newsroom teams across broadcast and digital to shape compelling, audience-focused content. The ideal candidate is quick-thinking, idea-driven, and thrives under pressure while producing accurate, engaging work on tight timelines. Key Responsibilities:

• Write and produce news content for broadcast and digital platforms
• Pitch, research, and develop story ideas
• Respond quickly and accurately to breaking news
• Contribute to engaging, high-impact newscasts and streaming content
• Collaborate across newsroom teams to support daily coverage

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience writing in a TV newsroom (required)
• Experience producing newscasts in a broadcast environment
• Strong news judgment and editorial skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
• Familiarity with newsroom systems and digital platforms

Preferred:

• Knowledge of the Bay Area news market
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Additional Requirements:

• Must be willing to work in San Jose, CA (on-site)
• Flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and breaking news coverage
