Position Summary
Essential Functions
Coaching Activities:
- Assist with the organization and preparation of individual and team practices, training and competition preparation.
- Assist in the identification and recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules, and NJIT institutional admissions standards.
- Ensure that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained during team training and practices.
- Provide guidance and assistance on navigating the collegiate student athlete experience.
- Assist with player development. Under the supervision of the Head Coach, develop training methods to improve the overall skill development of the athletes both in/out of season.
- Provide assistance in the coordination and administration of the program as required.
- In addition to general coaching, coach a specialized area (ie. offense, defense, goalkeepers) as assigned by the Head Coach
- Assist with team travel arrangements
- Work with athletic training staff as needed for prevention and care of player injuries and other health related issues.
NCAA Compliance Functions:
- Knowledge of and adherence to all applicable NCAA rules, regulations, bylaws, constitutions and related university rules, regulations and policies.
Additional Functions
- Assist the Head Coach in the marketing and promotion of the Women’s Soccer program to all local constituencies including the campus, alumni, local Newark, Essex, and New Jersey communities.
- Assist the Head Coach in coordinating fundraising efforts for the sport within the guidelines set forth by the Athletics Department.
- Assist with clinics and camps for university and local community.
- Represent NJIT athletic department at alumni and school functions as needed.
- Maintain current health care certifications. (First aid, CPR/AED).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Prerequisite Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of coaching experience on the intercollegiate level or elite club level or high level collegiate playing experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations and compliance issues.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Valid driver's license & background check.
- Ability to travel evenings, as well as work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Salary Information
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the rate for this position is $25,000.00. (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
